Identification Documents

What is attestation? Also known as legalisation, this process involves a series of steps which takes a document issued in one country and makes it legally recognised in another. These procedures can be complicated as there are several factors which determine which steps are required to have your attestation completed. These requirements vary from country to country.

We can help you get any UK-issued identification documents attested for use abroad. These documents include the following common examples:

  • Passport
  • Driving Licence issued by the DVLA
To order your attestation online, start by choosing your country.

In all cases, the above documents will need to have certified copies taken before the attestation process can be completed. You are welcome to send through copies signed by your own solicitor or Notary Public, or we will take copies for you. Please bear in mind that the person signing the copies should have a sample of their signature on file with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) otherwise there will be delays to the attestation process whilst the FCO take steps to obtain a sample signature.

The attestation process cannot be carried out on your original documents.
