Italian Documents

Are you from Italy and thinking about moving elsewhere? It's likely you'll need your documents attested. Luckily, you've come to the right place!

Vital Consular can help you legalise your official Italian-issued documents for use anywhere in the world.

Attesting a document for any country can be difficult because of how the process can vary when attesting different types of documents for different countries. An Italian birth certificate being attested for Qatar won't have the same process as an Australian Degree Certificate being attested for the UAE, for example.

Vital Legalisation can take your Italian documents and legalise them for use for any country in the world. We can legalise any officially issued Italian Certificate if required, such as birth, marriage and death certificates, as well as educational documents. The general process for attesting a document from Italy is as below.

How It Works

To attest your Italian Documents, we will require both the original certificate and a copy of your passport.

  • Send us your documents or have them collected by our specially allocated couriers.
  • We'll have them sent safely to Italy, where two things will happen:
  1. Your document will be sent to either the Prosecutor's Office (Procura della Repubblica) or your provincial Prefecture (Prefettura), where the legalisation procedure will begin.
  2. Then, your document will be sent to the relevant Embassy, where a Certificate of Legalisation will be added to the front page.
  • Finally, your document will be sent back to you (or anywhere else you might need), safe and sound.

This is the general process for attesting Italian Documents, though there can be some differences depending on the type of document you're trying to attest. For example, certified copies of documents have to be notarised before the legalisation procedure can begin. If your document needs to be translated (which tends to be the case), it will have to be translated into the language of the destination country before it is accepted for use there. This translation will then have to be authenticated before being sent to the Procura della Republica, after which the procedure can take place as usual.

If your documents are being sent to the UAE, the embassy your document will be sent to will also differ depending on what part of Italy your document was issued in. The Embassy in Milan deals with queries for the northern part of the country, while the Embassy in Rome deals with them for the south.

It may be that your document needs to be sent to whichever country it needs legalising for and attested at the relevant Foreign Affairs department as well. We may be able to offer this service at an extra charge.

The number of variables makes it difficult to give either an accurate price or timescales. Please contact us with your requirements and we'll do our best to find a solution for you.
